Mrs. McCulloch, Former Residents,
Rites Here Today February 11, 1941
Funeral services for Mrs. Effie McCulloch former Manning resident were held at ten o'clock this morning (Thursday) at the Ohde Funeral Home with Rev. Alexander Wimberly in charge.
Mrs. McCulloch passed away on Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. Kinick in Chicago. The deceased underwent an operation for cancer about a year ago. She had been ill all winter at the home of her daughter.
A quartet composed of Mrs. Nick Schrum, Mrs. Albert Dietz, H.C. Pahde and C.M. Johnson sang two selections and Mr. Johnson sang a solo at the rites. Mrs. Henry Hagedorn was accompanist.
Burial was beside her husband, A.M. McCulloch, in the Manning cemetery. As pallbearers were P.H. Jones, Jul Wehrman, J.A. Lewis, H.C. Gotch, R.G. Sutherland and Charles Schmidt.
Mrs. McCullough was born, Effie Woolman, in Manning 61 years ago. She graduated from the Manning schools and taught in the local schools. She lived in Manning until 1913 when the family moved to South Dakota. She taught in the public schools at Presho, S. D.
Her husband. a railroad man, died at Sioux City on May 24, 1937. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Harry Woolman, all of whom are buried in the Manning cemetery.
Survivors are her daughter, Margaret, Mrs. C. Kinick of Chicago, a sister Mrs. Phoebe Mills of Sioux City, who was with her when she passed away, a niece, Mrs. Marc Severe, whose husband is vice-consul in Paris.
Mrs. McCulloch was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star.
