| Birth: | Feb. 3, 1879 Victory Cayuga County New York, USA | | Death: | Mar. 5, 1970 Syracuse Onondaga County New York, USA |  Former Phoenix Mayor Dies at Age 91 Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Allanson-GlanvilleTappan Funeral Home for Edward W. Allanson, 91, former mayor of Phoenix and resident of 310 Bridge St., who passed away Thurs (March 5) in St. Mary's Hospital in Syracuse, where he had been a patient for two days. Mr. Allanson was born in Victory Feb 3 1879 to William A and Ella Mae Sidney Allanson. He was licensed as a funeral director in 1899 and started in business with his father in Cato. Later he practiced in Auburn and in Albany. In 1914 he came to Phoenix and in company with Ernest I. Hill, he purchased the funiture and undertaking business of Fred Hakes. He is believed to have been the oldest licensed funeral director in the state of New York at the time of his death. Mr. Allanson served six terms as mayor of Phoenix. He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational. He has been a member of the Masonic fraternity for seventy years and sometime ago had been presented with a fifty year pin. He was also a member of the Oswego County, New York State, and the National Funeral Directors Association, and past president of the association, served 25 years as its treasurer and was at one time chairman of its legislative commitees. He served many years on the state examining board. Surviving are two granddaughters, Mrs. Nicholas Bibko of Phoenix and Mrs. George T. Straub of Liverpool and five great grandchildren. Burial will be in the Phoenix Rural Cemetery in the spring.
