A defensive end, he was one of the most dominant defensive players in the history of the National Football League, and set a since passed record of 198 sacks for a career spent with the Memphis Showboats of the USFL, and the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers (whom he helped to a Super Bowl victory in 1997) and the Carolina Panthers. In his eight years with the Eagles, he was the anchor of what many consider the best defense of the 1990s.
