Mrs. Leona Pays passed away at Thorp at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. J. A. McDonald, at the age of 69. She will be buried in Cle Elum. The deceased is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Evans of Sunnyside, and three sons, John, Lee, and Ben, who reside at Cle Elum.
Mrs. Pays' parents both were natives of Belgium and a number of her relatives are now with the Belgian Army. She was married to Felix Pays in Belgium in 1867. They emmigrated to Illinois in 1873 and then in 1877 started for Washington with a wagon and team, their objective point being Cle Elum. They took up a farm upon arrival there.
Mrs. Pay's husband died three years ago.
