Vermont political figure. He graduated from Goddard Seminary and became a school teacher and principal. He served as Plainfield's School Superintendent, and held local offices including Town Meeting Moderator, Lister and Auditor.
A Republican, he was a longtime member of the Vermont State Fair Commission and served in the Vermont House of Representatives from 1908 to 1909. He subsequently served as Vermont's Commissioner of Agriculture, and was a member of the Vermont Senate from 1915 to 1917. In 1923 he returned to the Vermont House and was elected Speaker, serving until 1925. He also served as Master of the National Grange and President of the National Grange Fire Insurance Company of Keene, New Hampshire. In 1938 he was elected Washington County Assistant Judge, and served from 1939 until his death.
