Carmen Edward was born Aug. 17, 1910 in Cleveland, OH, the 8th of 11 children of Stephan & Rosemary (nee Taddeo) Taddeo. He had brothers Henry, Joseph, John, Anthony & Dominick & sisters Lena & Anne. One brother & two sisters died as babies. Carmen grew up in a area of Cleveland known as "Little Italy" on E. 120th St.
He appeared in the 1920 Cleveland census living with his parents and siblings at 1939 E. 120th St.
Carmen married Katerina Gisell Mak about 1932 in Cleveland & had a son Stephan. They divorced before 1938 and Katerina then married Vincent Spicuzza. He adopted Stephan in 1946 & Stephan never knew about his biological father until that time.
Katerina died on April 3, 1990 in Medina, OH at age 76 from cancer of the lung and brain and is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland.
Carmen then married Theresa "Sally" Mesarik on Aug. 5, 1938 in Cleveland. Sally was born on Oct. 12, 1914 in St. Louis, MO.
They had three children listed above. John died as a result of a medication overdose on June 21, 1975 in Lorain at age 21 & is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Sec. 12, Lot 1226 in Lorain.
Carmen had many occupations -- he was a guard in a shipyard during WW II, was a golf caddie, worked in a dry cleaning shop & was a appliance salesman at Sears.
He was living at 1472 Parkhill Rd. in Cleveland Hts. with his parents in 1937 & was a clerk at May Co. In 1940 he & Sally were living at 650 E. 131st St.
He & Sally were living at 1200 Missouri Ave. in Lorain when he died on Sept. 21, 1973 from a massive stroke at age 63 and is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain in Sec. 8a Lot 264. They were members of St. Anthony's Church in Lorain. He also had gout, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes Type II and thrombophebitis in his legs.
Carmen played golf and enjoyed baseball. He was an active volunteer in AAA.
Carmen was 5' 10" tall with blue eyes brown hair & wore glasses as he got older.
He was survived by his children & four grandchildren.
Theresa remarried and died under the name Volpe in Sun City, AZ. She was cremated and her ashes buried with Carmen at Calvary Cemetery.
