Mrs. SHERMAN REED
Mrs. Jean Elizabeth Reed, 56, died Wednesday at her home in Dorset. Regional Medical Examiner Dr. Clifford Harwood has issued a tentative ruling that death was by suicide.
An autopsy has been performed, but according to Dr. Lawrence S. Harris, chief state medical examiner, no findings have been reported. He added that lab tests are concentrating on the possibility that death was caused by an overdose of drugs.
Mrs. Reed was born March 3, 1917 in Dorset and was the daughter of Sherman and Amy (Blackmer) Nichols. She attended Dorset schools and was a graduate of Burr & Burton Seminary in Manchester.
She was married to Sherman Reed Dec 27, 1947 in Rupert and the couple resided in Dorset since that time.
She was a member of the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert.
Survivors include her husband and her father; also a daughter by a previous marriage, Miss Kay Galusha of Baltimore, Md. Other survivors are a brother, Charles Nichols of Arlington; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Abramson of Manchester Depot and Mrs. Thelma Fahey of Baldwin, L.I., and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3:30 pm in the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert, with the Rev. Hal C. Miller, officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Dorset.
