Madeline Gladys Rembolt, 11 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Rembolt, residing west of Chapman, passed away at the Triplett sanitarium, this city, at 9:05 p.m. last Wednesday as the result of septicaemia, or blood poisoning. The little girl had suffered a slight injury of an elbow about two weeks prior to her death from which blood poisoning developed. Several days later, she complained of pain in her right foot and ankle. She was removed to the Triplett sanitarium in this city where an operation was preformed but the infection had made such headway that her chances for recovery were doubtful from the beginning and death resulted after eleven days of painful suffering.

Madeline Gladys Rembolt was born on a farm twelve and one half miles northeast of this city on August 8, 1917 and was the oldest child of the family. Her death at the age of 11 years and twenty-one days is a sad blow to the bereaved family and the many friends, all of whom respected and loved the child. She took an active interest in Sunday school and church services.

Those left to mourn her loss, the bereaved parents, a sister Lois, a brother Marion, her grandmothers and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the home of her parents at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and from the Emmanuel Ev. [sic] church, ten miles northeast of the city at 2 p.m. and were attended by a large. . . Rev. L. Lohr, assisted by Rev. A. H. Schwab, of Archer, and Rev. R. C. Ehbinger of Grand Island conducted the services. Serving as pallbearers were five cousins, Raymond Harvey, Earl and Irvin Rembolt, Harold Zamzow, and an uncle, Donald Fuehrer. Six young girls. . . served as flower bearers. . . Interment was made in the Grand Island cemetery.
