French Film Director, Motion Picture Producer and screenwriter. Best known for being the director of the cult movie "La Boum" (1980), a worldwide success which in Europe has sold 19 million tickets, and the talent scout of the young actress Sophie Marceau. During his long career, began in 1939, Pinoteau worked as an assistant alongside Jean Cocteau, Henri Verneuil, Claude Lelouch and Lino Ventura. He has directed and produced several successful films, including "La gifle", starring Annie Girardot and a debutant Isabelle Adjani, "Le silencieux" (1973), two sequels of "La Boum" (1982-1988), "La bicyclette bleue" (2000). He died after a long illness at his home near Paris. (bio by: Lucy Caldarelli)
