Margaret came from Cumberland County with her parents when she was 22 years old. Many other families also migrated west from Bucks County about the same time including the Keevers and the Rothrocks, the Myers and the Price families.

In 1798, Margaret and John purchased some property from Margaret's brother, John Means. This property is located on the north side of the valley road that goes from Burnham to McVeytown. It is not known for sure whose property the present road goes through. However, from the old land grants it appears to have been laid out through part of the Keever property which was originally granted to Charles Coxe; and the old stone house and family burial ground were probably on John and Margaret's land. This old house is now occupied by the Steele family.

The Means Family burial ground is located on this property, and the old farm house sits back from the road overlooking the small and neglected cemetery. There are many graves in this cemetery, and many of the headstones have been broken and destroyed. It is not known how many of the family are buried there, but no doubt John and Margaret Means Keever are laid to rest in this cemetery.

In 1793, John and Margaret, with John's brother, Samuel Keever, and his wife Catherine, sold some of the property left to them by John Keever senior. This property lies down the road and across from the former property of John Means.

See pages 21-30 of "The Means Family of America" book for the Deeds and Wills of John Means, John Keever and Margaret Keever.
