Columbiana March 10, 2004 - Jack Bertolette, age 73, of 849 Fairfield School Road died at 5:00 a.m. Wednesday at his residence.
He was born March 1, 1931 in Columbiana, son of Charles E. and Margaret Warner Bertolette.
Mr. Bertolette had lived in Columbiana for 44 years coming from East Palestine.
He did time study for the former Deming Company until they closed, then was an estimator for the former National Rubber Machinery Corp. in Columbiana, was then traffic manager for Columbiana Boiler for seven years. He also helped at Gilmore's Amoco.
Mr. Bertolette was a Life time member of the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion at Columbiana, president of the Sunday Night Mixed League at Arrowhead Lanes, was past treasurer and coach of Columbiana Youth Baseball Leagues for many years and was inducted into it's Hall of Fame.
He served in the Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, second Marine Division in the Marines during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, the former Carole 'Mitzi' Gilmore whom he married September 8, 1956; two sons, Jeffrey (Robin) Bertolette and Jamie Bertolette, both of Columbiana; two sisters, Dolores Green and Shirley Sprankle, both of East Palestine; and four grandchildren, Matthew, Jordan, Colton and Logan Bertolette.
Two sisters, Hazel Perry and Dorothy Sell and a brother, Thomas Dalrymple, preceded him in death.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home with the Rev. W. David H. Conrad officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The Honor Guard of Benjamin Firestone Post will render military honors.
