Mary Lou Barnett Martin, 82, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Bill Barnett. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Baldwyn. She was a retired employee of the Baldwyn School System, where she served as secretary for the elementary school and as a substitute teacher for more than 29 years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Mike Martin of Starkville; one brother, Roger Barnett (Janie) of the Friendship community; her in-laws, Jimmy Ray Martin (Carolyn) of Friendship and Larry Hassell of Memphis; nieces, Melissa Flarity (Todd) and Paula Tomala (Bill).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Carl C. Martin; a son, Marty Martin; and a sister, Billie Joyce Hassell.
Pallbearers will be Joe Blassingame, Jimmy Ray Martin, Simon Spight, Kevin Martin, Paul Vick and Bubba Pratt.
