Issac McCarty and Ann D'Evecmon were married, they first lived on the Blackoak Bottom, that was the north branch of the Potomac River, ten miles west of Cumberland, Maryland, in Alleghany Co. They lived there from 1815 to 1823 and had five children while there as follow, Elizabeth, Ingaba, Mary Ellen, Hannah, and Peter. In 1823, they moved to Yough Glade, fifty miles from Cumberland in the Alleghany Mountains, this county has since been divided and is Garret Co. The city of Oakland is now located on the farm that they owned. On this farm they lived for thrity years and had 6 more children as follow, Edward, William, Rebecca, David, Eliza Jane, and Volenda Bell. In 1885, they moved to Jefferson Co., Iowa. Northeast of Fairfield, four miles on what is know as the Brighton Road. On this farm, they lived until death. Issac was 77 yrs old when he died. His wife Ann died at the ripe old age of 91, she passed away July 10, 1885. They were both buried in the Wheeler graveyard near the home where they had lived in Fairfield, Iowa. Issac was appointed postmaster at Pattytown, October 30, 1811. In 1835, he founded the town of Oakland, Maryland, and became it's first postmaster.
