MRS. W.S. WEST DIES IN VALDOSTA-Was Wife of Late U.S. Senator and Prominent in Social Affairs.
VALDOSTA, Ga., Dec. 4. -(AP)- Mrs. W.S. West, 68, widow of the late United States Senator West, died early today of a heart ailment.
Her husband was appointed to the senate by Governor Slaton to fill the place of Senator A.O. Bacon, of Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at the family home tomorrow and interment will be in Sunset cemetery.
Mrs. West was one of the leading women of Valdosta. She was prominent in social, political and religious life. Mrs. West was instrumental in the foundation of of the State Women's College here, the Valdosta United Charities and the building of the Woman's home. She donated a part of the land from the West estate on which the Woman's home is built.
Survivors are two brothers T.G. Cranford and Judge Gordon Cranford of Valdosta city court; a son W.S. West Jr., and three grandchildren.
