Guy Chittum Nicely, 78, of Rt. 3, Lexington died Saturday at his home. Born Feb. 19, 1894 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Joseph N. Nicely and Mary McClung Nicely.
He was a member of the Collierstown Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hattie Agnor Nicely; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Manley of Lexington, Mrs. Louise Markham of Roanoke and Mrs. Dorothy McKenna of College Park, Md.; four sons; Guy C. Nicely Jr., Paul Nicely and Kenton L. Nicely of Lexington, and Ovie E. Nicely of Buena Vista; a sister, Mrs. Sadie Rowe of Raphine; three brothers, Alva Nicely of Lexington, Sidney Nicely of Brownsburg and Nathan Nicely of Waynesboro, and 20 grandchildren.
The Rev. Phillip Mace conducted a funeral service yesterday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Harrison's Funeral Home. Burial was in Oxford Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
