They then settled in Hyannis Massachusetts and leased the then abandoned (three story) Park Square Inn at 156 Main Street in the center of town. After several years they purchased it and put in cottages on the property for long-term guests to use. It was originally built Captain Sylvester Baxter born in 1799 in Yarmouth Massachusetts, for his family and servants. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
He passed away in New Bedford, Massachusetts and is buried at the memorial of Martin/Barfoot in Centerville, Massachusetts with his family, however he had no name marker for many years, as he was estranged at the time of his death. One was added much later. He is in the back of the stone.
He is the son of Jean Baptiste and Therese Eugenie (Courbet) Martin.
