Dorothy Pauline Sheriff, 80, of Mt. Holly Springs, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at her home.
Born June 18, 1928, in North Middleton Township, she was a daughter of the late Earl W. and Alta Burgett Wert and the widow of Chester E. Sheriff.
Dorothy was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlisle. She liked steam engine shows at Williams Grove, country and gospel music, and loved crafts. Mrs. Sheriff and her husband held a lifetime attendance award at the National Apple Harvest Festival, where they displayed gasoline engines. She also loved her grandchildren very much.
She is survived by her son, Ronald E. (and his wife, Vonnie) Sheriff of Carlisle; a brother-in-law, Marlin Pentz, of Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Barrick of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Devin and Nathan Sheriff of Carlisle; her companion and friend, John Stum of Carlisle; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Wert and Sharon Pentz, and a brother, Lee Wert.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Mt. Holly Church of God, 602 McLand Road, Mt. Holly Springs, with the Rev. Richard Reese officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
