Monticello--Funeral services for Caroline Schoenhut, 80, were held Wednesday morning at Goettsch Funeral home with the Rev. A. Morris Lotte officiating. Burial was made at Oakwood cemetery.
Miss Schoenhut died at John McDonald hospital Dec. 30 from a heart condition. She had been a patient there five days.
Born March 5, 1882 at McPherson, Kan., she was a daughter of Charles and Lena Schuessler Schoenhut. She never married and made Monticello her home the past 50 years. She assisted her parents with the operation of a bakery and later operated it herself. She operated a millinery shop 16 years, retiring in 1961.
She was member of the Congregational Church, the Loyal Rebecca lodge, Schriener chapter of Order of Eastern Star and the Royal Neighbors of America. She received her education in the Mason schools and was a graduate of the Palmer School of Chiropractic.
Survivors include two nephews, Ray L. Mills of Rock Island, Ill. and Ralph Mills, Des Plaines, Ill; two nieces, Mrs. Helen Johnson, Moline, Ill. and Mrs. Florence Monroe of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
