Dreadful Occurrence-
Boy shot on Monday morning last, a German, named Fehlman, of Yankeebush, Conewango township, deliberately shot his son a lad some 16 years of age causing his instant death.
For many years previous to his emigration to this country, and continually since that time, he had suspected his wife of infidelity to the congenital relationship, and has been considered a madman on that subject, though same in other respects. A day or two previous to the occurrence, he told his oldest daughter, that he intended to kill all the family except her, she being, as he thought, the only legitimate heir, to whom he intended to leave his property at his death. This was considered like others of the kind as the idle ravings of insanity.
On Monday he left the breakfast table and retired to a bed room adjoining where he had a ??? gun loaded. As the boy rose from prayers he fired through a crack in the partition the ball entered the shoulder and came out the other, lodging in a wall of the house. He then sought his wife, and tired the other barrel of his gun (a double barrel shot gun loaded with ball) the ball passing through her dress on one shoulder. Failing in this, he attempted to dispatch her with a large butcher knife. Her screams and struggles caused him to desist before she was materially injured. The alarm was immediately given, and he was taken into custody by Sheriff Anderson of the borough and lodged in Jail.
