Elwood was the Son of, Howland Embree and Ruth H. (Stanley) Wilson. Elwood Married Eliza Adalaide Holliday on March/13/1872, in Hamilton County Indiana, and together they had three children, they were, Leonidas (Lee) Ludovic Wilson, Leroy (Roy) Clyde Wilson, and Embree (Ed) Edgar Wilson. On Sept./28/1888, Elwood's wife Eliza died, and on Jan./1/1890, Elwood Married his second wife Lydia Elizabeth Booth, They stayed Married until his death in 1930, they had no children of thier own. Elwood was a school teacher in his early life, he was active in the affairs of the community for a long time, having served as a member of the City Council in Noblesville for two years, he was also a member of the School Board when the Third Ward building was erected, and was chief of the Fire Department for several years when the membership of the department consisted of volunteers. He became a baggageman for the old Lake Erie and Western Railroad in 1908 and continued with the company when it was bought by the Nickel Plate Road Company. He was then given the job of crossing watchman near the Court House in Noblesville, on Sept./20/1930, while guarding the lives of others, Elwood was struck by a southbound Nickel Plate Freight train, and died a few hours later. Elwood was 83 years old when he died.
