Virginia was the fourth of nine children--all daughters, born to Patrick Francis Larkin and Rose Ann (Mallon) Larkin. Virginia was married on November 11, 1936 in Manhattan to Charles J. Spiess, Jr. Seven children were born to this union, 4 sons and 3 daughters. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Margaret Larkin Moffat(1960), Mary Louise Larkin McCartan (1989), and Rita Larkin Corby (1993). She survived by her children, numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews and extended family. She was also survived by 5 sisters; all have since passed...Violet Larkin Pariot (1995), Rosalie Larkin Brown (1998), Aileen Larkin (2003) and Eleanor Larkin Gorman (2005), and last surviving sister, Veronica (Bonnie) Larkin Loughran (2012). Virginia was of the Roman Catholic faith.
