Mrs. Elizabeth Peacock Gorham passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, John Lee Gorham; infant son, Gilbert Lyndon Gorham; parents, William and Cora Lee (Gorman) Peacock; brother, Gilbert Marvin Peacock; sister, Rubilee Peacock Eastman; and stepfather, Charles W. Millican.
Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Lee Gorham, of Henagar, and Melinda Gorham, of Madison; special dear friends, Gerald and Loretta (Roden) Wright; stepsister and husband, Mary Frances (Millican) and Dr. Charles Lewis Taylor, of Blacksburg, Va.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gorham Wilson, of Rising Fawn, Ga., Betty Griffith Gorham, of Dutton, and Louise Blancett Gorham, of Rainbow City; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, L.J. and Alene Gorham, of Hixson, Tenn., and Robert and Berthel Whittle, of Sumter, S.C.; sitter, Avalea Maxwell, of Sylvania; beloved feline companion, Lucky; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A graduate of Pisgah High School and president of the Class of 1943, Elizabeth worked for a number of years at Pisgah High School as a substitute teacher and library aide. She is lovingly remembered as a woman of great faith, compassion, grace, gentleness and wit.
