An attendant at the funeral of Henry VIII, where he bore the Dragon Standard between two sergeants-at-arms with their maces. He was sheriff of Gloucestershire during the reign of Edward VI, and in the reign of Queen Mary was an officer at the Tower of London under his brother Lord Chandos, who he later succeeded as Lieutenant of the Tower. He was appointed steward of Chadlington Hundred as well as the royal manors of Burford and Minster Lovell, keeper of Whichwood Forest and the parks of Longley and Cornbury. He died testate with a will dated Oct. 18, 1559 which was proved Feb. 13, 1559/60.
