The west face of the gravestone shared by Walter Novak and his wife, Mary.
It is located in the northwest corner of the family plot, block 19 lot 9. Others in the lot are Walter's parents - Joseph and Louise Novak, Walter's grandparents - Niels and Anna Borup, and Walter's brother - Peter Novak.
Looking east at the gray, upright gravestone that Walter Novak shares with his wife Mary. Behind and slightly right (in the photo) is a flat gray military marker for Walter used as a footstone. Further right at the top of the photo, is the wedge shaped headstone for Walter's brother, Peter Novak. On the right side, is the base of the obelisk tombstone for Walter's grandmother, Anna Borup.
Services for Walter Novak Held May 10th
Services were held Tuesday, May 19th for Walter Novak who died at the Blair Hospital Saturday, May 7th. He was 81 years of age.
Mr Novak was born in Blair August 27, 1895. He was engaged in farming all of his life until retirement when he moved to Blair to live at 2243 Lincoln Street in Blair, also enjoying gardening.
He was a World War I Veteran.
On October 15, 1924, he was married to Mary Knutsen.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Crowell Home, one son, Ralph, of Blair; three grandchildren, Ronald, Gary and Jolene and two great grandchildren, Crystal and Colleen.
Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Albers and the Rev. John Petersen conducting the service. Burial was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Howard E. Larsen, Andrew Hansen, Jr., Rolland Long. James Christensen, Mac Allen and Lloyd Nielsen.
