Edwin W. Rigbers was born on Monday; November 2, 1925 in Ackley; Hardin County, Iowa. He was the son of: John and Lydia Nolte Rigbers. Edwin graduated from Ackley High School in 1944 and served in the United States Army from 1944-46. On Sunday; Nov. 4, 1951, he married Florence Hofmeister at the Little Brown Church in Nashua; Chickasaw County, Iowa. He had worked at Carsten's Hardware, Townsend Merrill Lumber Company and owned Ed's Appliance and Service in Ackley, Iowa for 28 years. He was active in Saint John's United Church of Christ and served on the church council, was a member of the Rotary Club and the Montague Masonic Lodge No. 117 of Eldora; Hardin County, Iowa. Edwin W. Rigbers, age: 74, passed away on Sunday; September 10, 2000, at his home in Ackley, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Florence. His sister: Dorothy (Bill) Shugar of Ackley, Iowa and numerous nephews, nieces and a host of friends. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother: Margery Rigbers. His infant brother; and a stepbrother: Gerald Borror. May they rest in peace. May God bless his memory and give strength to those that mourn. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday; September 13, 2000 at the Saint John's United Church of Christ in Ackley, Iowa with the Reverend Michael Dack officiating. Interment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Ackley with military rites being provided by the Elliott-Keninger American Legion Post #252 of Ackley, Iowa.
