Joyce L. Davis LUBBOCK- Our most beloved, Aunty Joyce, went to be with our Holy Lord Jesus on November 19, 2012. Joyce was born in Hamlin, Texas on June 15, 1928 to Clint and Birtie (Gregory) Pyron. She attended schools in New Moore and Tahoka, Texas. Joyce married Jessie Denver (J.D.) Davis on June 17, 1943 and they lived the majority of their life in Tahoka, moving to Lubbock eventually. On November 1, 1954 the love of her life, son, Jerry Don, was born and through adoption they were a family of three. Tragically, on October 5th, 1980 Jerry, a DPS officer, was killed in the line of duty. On May 19, 1998 after 55 years of marriage, her husband J.D. died. Her brother, Darras, preceded her in death also. Joyce is survived by several nieces and nephews. Through life's tough lessons Joyce remained a strong Christian lady, also fun loving and quick witted. She loved music, Elvis, and traveling. Joyce was a mom to many of her nieces and nephews throughout the years, they described her as caring, giving, and always there for them, enhancing their lives immeasurably. Joyce lived her life as God's true meaning of what a Proverbs 31 woman would live. Joyce worked at Dayton Parker Drugstore in Tahoka, and sold in insurance in Lubbock and also worked for LISD.
