She married her first husband George Morehart on November 4, 1939, and their daughter was born the following year. Neva and her daughter moved to Patterson in 1942, and she divorced George in 1945. In 1946, she married Norman "Tad" Dittman. She worked as a secretary at the Las Palmas School from the mid-1960s to 1982, even after moving to Modesto in 1972. She and Norman divorced in June 1968, but remarried in November 1975. She remained a member of the Federated Church in Patterson throughout.
Mrs. Dittman was survived by her daughter, four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a niece; a great-niece; and a great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Joan Thorkelson.
