Frederick Weston Sexton was born June 22, 1822 in Stewart County, Tennessee to Allen and Sarah (Weston) Sexton. He would marry Caroline Whitman in 1844 and they would have five children: Mary, Zack, James, Rebecca, and Sarah. Caroline would pass away July 5, 1853. Frederick would marry again in 1854, marriage certificate only mentions Judith Anna, but with two small children on 1860 Census, would say Judith's last name was Corwin at the time. They would have son Marion, and daughters Eliza and Mary.

Frederick has moved the family to Iowa by the 1860 Censes and at the age of 40, in August 1862 Fredrick would join the 34th Infantry Regiment Iowa. They would send him to a large Union Hospital in Tennessee after getting sick. Died of disease there on February 16th 1863. Buried at the Mississippi River Cemetery original, The History of Elmwood Cemetery States "Union soldiers also were buried at Elmwood in the 1860s, but almost all were removed in 1868 and reinterred in Memphis National Cemetery. Two Union generals, William Jay Smith and Milton T. Williamson, remain at Elmwood. The story told at the cemetery is that the names were written on the coffins as they were removed from Elmwood so that they would be properly identified at the national cemetery. While the coffins were waiting to be reinterred a rain storm came up. Unfortunately the names had been written on the coffins in chalk so all the names washed away with the rain and the Sultana victims all lie in graves marked unknown now in the Memphis National Cemetery.

This would make Judith a widow at the age of 30 (this could have been the second time she was a widow) and she would never remarry. She would continue to live in Warren County, Iowa and pass away there in 1898 just after her 66th birthday.
