Robert was a son of Robert & Charlotte (Armsby) Park. He m. Hattie Mae Hoskinson on 5 May 1882 in Perry Co., OH. Secondly, he m. Clara Jane "Jennie" (Trimmer) Kelley. According to a descendant, Robert was "really ambitious" and had an "entrepreneurial spirit." In 1913, he took the family to Palmyra, VA to start a sawmill. On another occation, he took the family to St. Louis for another business venture.
His obituary appeared in the Logan Republican on Thursday, April 12, 1917:
"ROBERT PARKS DEAD
Mr. Robert Parks of Green township died in his home last week of a complication of diseases. The remains were taken to his old home in Murray City Saturday and interred by the side of his kindred dead.
Deceased was for years identified with the mining industry of Snow Fork Valley and had many friends, who will sincerely mourn his death. For some two or three years he has been engaged in the lumber business in West Virginia and only last fall returned to the farm in Green township.
The widow, who has many relatives in and around Logan, and the bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community."
