Michael served as a Private, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the New York National Guard on October 15, 1940, prior to the war, in Buffalo, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Carpenter and also as Single, without dependents.

Michael died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident during the war.

Michael was born in Bamberg, Germany and came to the US with his parents when he was 11 years old. He served three years as a national guardsman with the 106th Field Artillery before enlisting in the regular Army Sept 15, 1940. He was one of 15 soldiers who ate toadstools after mistaking them for mushrooms while on field duty. He was the only soldier to die, the others became ill but recovered.
