Jack Robert Copen, former Treasurer of Grove Public Schools, age 86, died Monday, November 05, 2012 at the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Oklahoma.

Jack was the son of Clarence A. and Gladys E. (Yates) Copen, he was born on February 18, 1926 in Pittsburg Kansas. After graduating from College High school, he graduated from Kansas State Teachers college. Jack was united in marriage to Darlene "Pete" Petersen in August of 1955. Jack was a Licensed Public Accountant; upon moving to Grove in 1969, Jack opened his own office where he served the Grove community for over 30 years; he was the former Treasurer for the Grove Public School District, former Treasurer of and member of the Grand Lake Association, Former Boy Scout Leader, Member of the Oklahoma Society of Public Accountants and National Society of Public Accountants. Jack was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairland, Oklahoma where he served as Treasurer, Vice President of Congregation, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent and on various committees. Jack enjoyed reading and fishing.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one son Charles Copen and two nephews; Larry Berg and Jim Berg. He is survived by his two daughters; Susan Copen of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Elizabeth Homans and her husband Jack of Ft. Worth, Texas. Jack was blessed with three granddaughters; Jennifer Homans, Beth Ann Kehoe and her husband Justin and Katie Homans, also one nephew Gary Berg.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 9, 2012 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairland, Oklahoma with Reverend Leo Schroeder officiating. Jack will be laid to rest at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Fairland, Oklahoma. Memorial donations can be made in Jack's name to the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
