USN LCDR (Ret.) Morris Duane (M. D.) Anthony, cherished father, passed away on October 7, 2004 in Colorado Springs. M. D. was preceded in death on July 17, 2004 by Helen, his devoted wife of 65 years.
M. D. was born on July 25, 1919, to Alman and Laura Edith Anthony in New Hampton, Missouri. He married Helen on October 8, 1938, and lovingly devoted himself to his wife, family, and country for the next 65 years. M. D. retired from the U.S. Navy as Lieutenant Commander in 1969 after 29 years of dedication to his country. He served in W.W. II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and earned numerous medals and awards for his exemplary performance. After his military retirement, he opened and operated Strout Realty in New Hampton. He became a Broker Associate with Century 21 Realty after moving to Colorado Springs in 1978.
Throughout his life, M. D. was a devoted Christian. He was a Stephens Minister and a faithful member and active leader of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for 26 years. He served his church community and neighbors whenever and wherever he was needed. In addition to Helen, M. D. was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Joanna and Marilyn. He is survived by his brother and sister, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his children, he is survived by his 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, as well as many loving friends and extended family members. He will be deeply missed by all of us who loved him and whose lives he touched.
A private committal service will be held on Monday, October 11, and we will celebrate M. D.'s life at a Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 15 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 2111 Carlton Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80909.
