Charles Casella, 93, of Arnold, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Alle-Kiski Medical Center. Born Jan. 20, 1916, in Astoria, N.Y., to the late Salvatore and Agatha Lanza Casella, Charles had lived in the area since 1946.
He worked in the carnival business for several years before retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Mt. St. Peters Church, New Kensington, and was a 65-year member of the New Kensington Eagles. He enjoyed going to Atlantic City and especially dancing with his longtime companion, Alberta Chiera. Charles also was a professional singer.
Survivors include a daughter, Ida (Julio) Aponte, of Bronx N.Y.; longtime friend, Rose (John) Baker, of Lower Burrell; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion, Alberta Chiera; brothers, Frank, Joseph, Samuel and Louis Casella; and sisters, Rose Galante and Connie Dimisa.
