| Birth: | 1857 | | Death: | Jul. 18, 1942 |  Peacetime Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in New York, he served as a Landsman in the United States Navy. On November 17, 1879, while serving on board the U.S.S. Richmond at Shanghai, China, Landsman Michell rescued a fellow shipmate from drowning after he fell into the sea.
