Voice Actress. Born Lucille Theresa Bliss in New York City, she became known for her voice. She became a recognized television pioneer when she was tapped to voice the character of Crusader Rabbit in the first made for television cartoon series. The initial episodes aired in 1949 and ran through 1951. She debuted in feature films in the uncredited role of the wicked stepsister, Anastasia, in the classic 1950 film "Cinderella." She then moved to San Francisco and hosted a local television program; "The Happy Birthday To You Show" from 1950 to 1957. For the next 50 years her talents were heard in such animated works as the feature films: "101 Dalmatians" (1961), "The Secret of NIMH" (1982), "Robots" (2005), in television programs such as: "The Flintstones", "Invader Zim," "Avatar: The Last Airbender," and perhaps most notably, as Smurfette, in "The Smurfs," as well as in video games such as "Space Quest 6," "Battlestar Galactica," and "Star Wars:Bounty Hunter" which are part of a filmography of almost 50 titles. In 1999, for her work in "Cinderella," she received the Former Child Star Lifetime Achievement Award, the following year, she won the Winsor McCay award for lifetime achievement at the Annie Awards. Her last work was in 2007 when she voiced the role of Quinby in the animated short, "Up-In-Down Town." She had been residing at the Mesa Verde Residential Care Center in Costa Mesa, California, when she she succumbed to pneumonia at the age of 96. (bio by: Iola)
