NEWPORT NEWS - Burma Wellons, 57, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 8, 2004. She was a resident of Newport News, Va. She was a faithful member of True Word of God Missions Church. Burma was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Whitney; her birth mother, Ellen M. Trice; and a sister, Anita Spivey. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Wayne Wellons of Richmond, Va., Beverly Wellons, Leslie Doswell and Kelcey Wellons, all of Newport News, Va., and Andrea Wellons of Hampton, Va.; two brothers, John Whitney and Darren Trice; seven sisters, Diane Faye Ponton, Maree Trice, Debra Granado (Luis), Carol Cloud, Luetta Bell (Perry), Felicia Hendrick (Bayron) and Benita Taylor (Michael); nine grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, and friends. Homegoing services will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, at O.H. Smith and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by O.H. Smith and Son Funeral Home.
