Dolores M. Power, 82, a retired mail sorter for Washington State University, died Oct. 12, 2012, at the Glenhaven Adult Family Care in Pullman, Wash. Family members live in Wallowa County.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1930 at Pasco, Wash., to Melvin and Pearl (Moon) Syms. She attended school at Garfield, Wash., then finished her schooling at Palouse, Wash., where she graduated from high school in 1948.
She married Jerold W. Power on June 12, 1948, at Onecho, Wash.. the couple made their home at Palouse, where they farmed.
The couple moved in 1971 to Moscow, Idaho, where her husband worked for a seed company and then for the University of Idaho.
In 1976, Dolores started working at Washington State University in the mail room as a mail sorter. She retired in 1992 after 17 years.
While living in Palouse, Jerold and Dolores were instrumental in bringing the first live buffalo to Palouse Days while in Jaycees.
Dolly enjoyed horseback riding, camping, swimming, canning, cooking, crocheting, sewing and crafts.
Survivors include her husband Jerold W. Power, Moscow, Idaho; four sons, Jerold D. Power and his wife Roxanne of Goodyear, Ariz., Gale Power and his wife Michele of Bethel, Alaska, Gary Power of Wallowa, and Daryl Power and his wife Kathie of Troy, Idaho; two daughters, Connie Hepburn and husband Dean of Damascus, and Terri Seifert and husband Jim of Wallowa; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat and Kay Syms of Palouse, Wash. and Gene and Terry Syms of Spokane, Wash. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Dolores was preceded in death by brother Edward Syms and grandchildren, Tina Bies and Brandon Power.
At her request there will be no services. Memorials may be given to the Palouse Community Center, Box 23, Palouse, WA. 99161
Kramer Funeral Home of Palouse handled the arrangements.
