C.B. was born on April 9, 1920 and passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009.
C.B. was a resident of Centralia, Illinois at the time of his passing.
He was a World War II veteran, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on November 18, 1941, where he was assigned to he second marine division. He saw action on Hawaii, Midway, and Tinian Island. He received a Shrapnel wound during the battle of Midway in June 1942, where he served as an antiaircraft gunner, and was present on Tinian Island when the B-29 �Enola Gay� was fueled up to begin the bombing mission on Hiroshima. He was a gunnery Instructor, and attained the rank of Platoon Sergeant. He was formally discharged from the USMC on December 10, 1945.
He was preceded in death by his wife Fonda.
