NEWPORT -- Herbert C. Laws, age 82, of Parrottsville, went to be with the Lord Thursday.
He was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years: Arizona Laws; three daughters: Margaret Ann Tucker Stanley (Johnny), Vickie Laws Klinesmith (Ronald), and Janice Thomas (J.D.); three sons: Herbert Cecil Laws (Karen), Michael Glenn Laws (Patsy), and Ricky Lynn Laws (Sharon Phillips); 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a sister: Millie Yarbor (Brownlow) of Chuckey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Edgar and Ethel Laws; three brothers: Junior, Basil, and Dee Laws; three nephews: David Laws, Shane Yarbor, and John Wesley "J.W." Laws; and a niece: Janie Story.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home, 338 E. Main St., Newport, with the funeral service following at 1 p.m. Pastor Paul Jennings will officiate.
Interment will follow in Brown's Chapel Church Cemetery in Parrottsville.
