Eugene Francis Feronti's wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember him as a kind and gentle spirit that loved life to the fullest. A great day was simply a day when the sun shined brightly and he was with his family. Gene was born the 5th of 16 children on November 11, 1929 in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania to James & Dona (Keller) Feronti. Prostate cancer finally won the battle and he passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at home with his loving family by his side. Gene graduated from Johnsonburg Area High School in June 1947 and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the Korean Conflict and received his honorable discharge in 1956. He attended Waynesburg College and earned a BA in Accounting in 3 short years, graduating with honors. He went on to take the Certified Public Accounting Exam (passing the first time!) and then worked as a CPA and Controller for Arthur Young. In 1962, Crane Plumbing Company brought Betty Jean & him west to Oklahoma. He also worked for Aero Commander and was a founder of the Independent Postal Systems of America. In June 1976, Gene opened his private CPA practice, EF Feronti CPA; where he was known as the 'Friendly CPA'. Gene operated the practice with his wife, Betty Jean, and daughter, Pami, until the time of his death. Gene & Betty Jean (Sayers) were married June 11, 1951 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania and celebrated their 56th anniversary this past June. They raised 9 children, 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. They have been members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for 42 years. Gene is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Betty Jean; his 3 sons and 6 daughters and their spouses, Eugene Francis Jr, (Christine), Houston, TX, Kimberly Feronti Dickinson (Gary), Edmond, OK, Craig Stephen (Pam), Plano, TX, Dawn Elizabeth Henry (ML) Edmond, OK, Tamaura Anne Clinton (Scott) Tulsa, OK, Pamaura Therese Henderson (Larry), OKC, OK, Jeanne Feronti Bronson (Paul), Edmond, OK, Mary Carol Feronti, OKC, OK, and Gregg James (Tia), Yukon, OK. Also surviving him are his greatest joy and legacies - his grandchildren, Peter & Nicholas Feronti, Houston, TX, Greg, Jeff (Heather), and Jon Pat Dickinson, Edmond, OK, Curtis & Rebecca Feronti, Plano, TX, Lauren (Jamie) Chastain and ML Henry, Edmond, OK, Rachael, Tyler (Lindsey), Sarah, and Tessa Clinton, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Brett & Blake Henderson, Oklahoma City, OK, Paul Bronson Jr; Edmond; OK, Liana and Ronan Feronti, Yukon, Oklahoma. His great granddaughters, Bridgette and Isabella Dickinson brought him much joy the last year. Gene also leaves his surviving brothers, sisters and their spouses Bud (Pat), Samuel (Hon), Noel (Donna Mae), James (Becky), Richard, Tommy (Fran), Louise, Donna (Bill), Annie, Charlene (Don), sister-in-law Mary Kennedy (David), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Dona Feronti; brother, Chuck; sister, Lavonne; and 3 infant siblings. You could guarantee a good time when Papa Geno was around. There was always food, laughter and much discussion. Our lives were blessed by the special place he had for each of us in his heart. He probably never fully knew the strong role he played in our lives; but he certainly knew the love we had for him and we certainly knew the love he had for us. He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. There wasn't a day that went by where he didn't make you laugh or smile. The family expresses their gratitude to his doctors and their staffs - Gary Dickinson, Bill Miller, Steve Hamilton, Chris Bozarth and the staff of Cancer Treatment Center of Oklahoma. A special thanks to Karen, Neva and the staff at Hospice Quality Care, Inc. for the care, love and dignity they provided Dad in his final days. Please make donations in Eugene's name to Hospice Quality Care Inc., 921 South Sooner Road, Del City, OK 73110. The family will greet friends from 6-9 pm on Thursday and 4-6pm Friday at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 N May. The wake will be at the funeral home Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church 50th & N. Grove on Saturday, Sept. 22nd at 10 am with the interment following at Resurrection Cemetery. SMITH & KERNKE 14624 N.
