Jesse Etheridge [sic Ethridge], who resided on the Hebert Highway on Columbia Eastside, died of a heart attack in the Caldwell Hospital in Columbia Friday a.m. He was not a patient at the time of his death, it is reported, but had gone to the hospital to sit up with his wife who had been admitted to the hospital previously.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of the Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia, with the Rev. Jimmy Bolton, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Columbia, in charge.
Burial was made in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe.
Mr. Etheridge [sic Ethridge] was 75 at the time of his death and was retired a long-time job in a big plant in the Dallas, Texas area. He moved to Columbia several years ago, constructing a home on the Eastside where he resided.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Carrie W. Ethridge of Columbia Eastside; a daughter, Mrs. Elouise Fluitt, wife of Courtland Fluitt, who also resides on the Eastside; two sisters: Mrs. Florence Kenley and Mrs. Edna Kenley, both of Kilgore, Texas; one grandson and three great-grandsons.
Pallbearers were Harry A. Busch, Wilbur Dale, Marion Guy, Bryon Fisher, Wayne Malin and Guy Alford.
