On Thursday morning, 2d instant, Alice Virginia, aged 1 year 11 months and 2 days, only daughter of Richard H. and Bridget Gault.
A bud so lovely could not bloom,
On this wild earth of ours;
And God, in mercy, took it home,
To blossom with his flowers.
Dearest Alice Virginia, thou hast left us,
We thy loss most deeply feel,
But 'tis God that hath bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day life is fled,
Then in Heaven with joy greet thee,
Where no farewell tear is shed.
