Twilight Dawn "Twig" King, 85 years, of Waterville, Ohio and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully June 30th, 2011, at Swan Creek. She was born November 13, 1925, the daughter of James Alexander Gibbs and Burnidine Bruhl Gibbs. In 1946, she married Roger King who preceded her in death. A 1942 graduate of DeVilbiss High School, Twig played the accordion in the school marching band. Following high school Twilight attended The University of Toledo for two years where she was enrolled in the university's pre med program. Near the end of her second year she met the love of her life, Roger King, who was a recently graduated Mechanical Engineer and they married. Twig was a home maker for many years, raising five children. Her father, James Gibbs, owned the Toledo Nursery and from her dad Twig learned her art as a floral designer. Twig's mother also helped her by teaching her how to make intricate and beautiful corsages. Twilight eventually became a Floral Designer for Bartz Viviano Florists and later Joe Cooper, of Cooper Florists in Waterville where she remained until her retirement. A 50 year long member of the Waterville United Methodist Church, Twilight served for many years in the church choir, on various church committees and was in charge of visual displays for the alter. Twilight was able to experience, and enjoy, international travel to Australia, New Zealand and other locations through a life long family friendship with Mr. James Peake, a member of the Seaway Commander Barbershop group. Twilight is survived by her children, Trudy (Neil) Miller, Timothy (Paula) King, Douglas King, Paul (Stacey) King, and Jennifer (Randall) Reihing. Twig leaves 5 grandchildren, Sara, Brian, Brianne, Melanie and Alexis and 5 great grandchildren, Owen, Molly, Caleb, Devin and Chase. Throughout her life Twig was fun loving, warmhearted, a wonderful and loyal friend, always willing to help out and remained in full control of her affairs to her final days. If one phrase could sum up Twilight's later years, it would be "always a victor, never a victim", a woman who maintained her dignity and her sense of humor to her final days. Twig was a loving mother, devoted to her family and church, a wonderful, caring person, a true and loyal friend, and a caring mother-in-law. She was loved much by all those fortunate enough to have known her, and will be missed even more. A memorial service celebrating Twilight's life, will be held Saturday, August 6, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at the Waterville United Methodist Church, 102 N. Fifth St., Waterville, Ohio, 43566. A private family interment will take place on Monday, August 8, 2011, at Ottawa Hills Cemetery. The family requests that tributes honoring Twilight's life take the form of contributions to Waterville United Methodist Church. Arrangements by The Wells Funeral Home, Waterville, Ohio.
