George Edward Cook, 84, Topeka, died Sunday, March 22 at an Oskaloosa, Kansas nursing home. Mr. Cook was an insurance agent. He retired in 1973.
He was born July 14, 1902, at Ozawkie, the son of Cyrus and Ella Belle Kimbrel Cook. He moved to the Grantville community in 1903. He spent his early life in Grantville and was graduated from Prairie Creek School. He lived in Perry from 1939 to 1946, when he moved to Topeka. He was married to Myrtle Alberta Friesen April 25, 1924, in Topeka. A son, Melvin Cook, died in December 1946.
Survivors include (private). Services will be at 10 AM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Newman in Jefferson County. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 PM today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Church of the Brethren, 3205 Rochester Road, 66617. Belonged to the Church of the Brethren in Topeka, Kansas.
