Mary Eileen (Gray) Cookman, 87, passed away February 25 at the North Fort Myers, Florida, home of her daughter and son-in-law Sandi and Max Ross, under the loving care of both her family and her Hope Hospice care givers.

A member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Cape Coral, Florida, and the South Meridian Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, Mary was born February 10, 1919 in Rush County, Indiana, and spent her adult life in the Anderson-Middletown area where she retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors Corporation.

Preceding her in death are her husband of 63 years Forrest "Cookie" Cookman and her parents Jesse and Blanche (Wolverton) Gray. Survivors include her two sons Michael (wife Sharon) Cookman of Anderson, Indiana and Ted (wife Linda) Cookman of El Paso, Texas and her daughter Sandi (husband Max) Ross of North Ft. Myers, Florida. Also, her treasured brother-in-law John Cookman of North Ft. Myers, Florida and her dear uncle William L. Wolverton, Anderson, Indiana, with whom she was raised after the death of her mother.

Mary Eileen leaves behind 9 beloved grandchildren: Kevin (wife Noel) Cookman of London, England, Michelle Cookman of Anderson, Indiana, Max O. Ross III of Gary, Indiana, Desiree (husband Dennis) Tilford of Fontana, California, Janie (husband Jeff) Hubble of Pendleton, Indiana, Tim (wife Stacey) Ross of Florida Station, Indiana, John Fox of Denver, Colorado, Jordan (wife Beth) Cookman of San Jose, California and Matt (wife Connie) Cookman of Pendleton, Indiana.

Mary Eileen is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren all of whom she adored: Forrest and Molly Cookman of London, England, Bailey Eileen and Tamsin Tilford of Fontana, California, Cody and Kaily Hubble of Pendleton, Indiana, Brian, Brandy, and Austin Ross of Florida Station, Indiana, Olivia Cookman of San Jose, California, and Brittney, Katie and Matthew Torrence of Pendleton, Indiana.
Also surviving are fifteen dear nieces and nephews and their children, long-time friends and neighbors, and her wonderful Tamiami Village Community Family.
Mary Eileen's memory would be honored by a donation to Hope Hospice of Cape Coral, 2430 Diplomat Parkway, Cape Coral, Florida 33909.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 2, 2006, at South Meridian Church of God, 2402 Meridian Street, Anderson with the Rev. Gary Ausbun, officiating.
Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park.
