Note: 3 different death dates; Jan 1, 1956, Aug 5, 1956, and according to death calculator, Nov 16, 1954. Obituary gives funeral date as Nov 20, 1956 so Nov 16, 1956 is probably correct.

Marion Summerville Hullinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hullinger was born October 15, 1859 in Marion County, Ohio and departed this life at him home in Davis City, Iowa at the age of 97 years, one month and one day.

At the age of four Marion moved with hi family to southern Iowa where he grew to man hood. At an early age he was joined in fellowship with the Baptist Church remaining true to his faith in God to the end.

On August 18, 1876 he was united in marriage to Sarah Ann Moore. To this union two children were born, Julia Hullinger Kirg who preceded him in death on June 11, 1950 his wife passed away after giving birth to their second child who died at birth.

Mar 17, Marion united in marriage to Olive Cowles Mitchill. To this untion six children were born: Lottie Mae, Albert Grover, Daniel Wilbert, Lena Ethel, David LeRoy, Mirtie Irena. Albert Grover prceded him in death on September 2, 1886. They reared their family on a farm along the Iowa-Missouri line. It was 11 happy and prosperous home. But once again was saddened by the loss of the mother. Olive passed away August 26, 1921. On April 5, 1923 Marion chose another mate Arnetta Seymour. He continued his farming activity until the middle of 1930's when they retired at their home in Davis city here they spend many happy years. When once again fate struck and he was left without a mate. He was a kind, patient and understanding husband and father always thinking of the welfare of his family and others. During his illness he was lovingly cared for by his son and daughter-in-law Roy and Florence Hullinger.

Those preceding him death are his parents, his wives, two children, one stepson, four brothers and four sisters, one son-in-law, three grandsons and one granddaughter.

Those who mourn his passing are his five children the youngest of whom is 65 years old, two brothers, three sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; 22 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren, 53 great-great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

As we mourn his passing, it is with thankfulness that we have been able to share the blessings of his long life, and lay him to rest with the blessed hope of meeting him beyond.

Funeral Services conducted by the Rev. Flute Walker and the Rev. Elba Dale were held in the Davis City Brick Church on Tuesday November 20 1956, with the Slade funeral home in charge. Burial was in Davis City Cemetery.
