DAVENPORT - Donald R. "Squirrel" Haussmann, Davenport, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at this home. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3834 Rockingham Road, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Runge Mortuary, and one hour before the service at the church. Don Haussmann was born May 1, 1933, in Des Moines, the son of Robert and Margaret (Griffin) Haussmann. His family moved to Davenport in 1942. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1951. He served in the military from May 26, 1953, to May 25, 1955. On Aug. 30, 1958, Don married Doris Lee Wirth, daughter of Henry and Dorothy Wirth. Don retired in 1999 after 47 years at Ralston Purina. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for 43 years and participated in the church choir. He was a Sunday school and Vacation Bible school teacher for many years and a member of Hawkeye Ramblers MotorCycle Club from 1958 to 1968. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Doris; daughter, Michelle Haussmann, Davenport; daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and John Denger, Davenport; four grandchildren; brother, William Haussmann, Davenport; sister, Roberta Hauschild, Davenport; half brother, Ken Haussmann, Davenport; and half sister, Kathy Bergert, Walcott, Iowa. He was preceded in death by parents and brother, Gerald Haussmann.
