Currin L. Skutt, W8FSZ, born July 6, 1917 in Maple Rapids, Michigan and passed away on September 10, 2008, at the age of 91 years.
Currin retired from the Board of Water and Light in 1980 after 29 years of service as a machinist. He was an amateur Radio operator for 58 years. He was a lifetime member of CMARC (Central Michigan Amateur Radio Club), ARRL (American Radio Relay League) serving as Vice Director for 1 year and a member of QCWA (Quarter Century Wireless Association)(#10287) Michigan Chapter #10 serving as secretary 3 times. He enjoyed 54 years at his cottage he built at Holland Lake serving on the association board in many capacities. He enjoyed flying as a pastime, culminating with a glider ride on his 80th birthday. Currin was a loving and personable person who loved telling stories to everyone. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Ellen Skutt, and a nephew Dick Wells. He married Eleanor Wells on May 27, 1950 and she survives him along with 1 niece, Sherry Wells of Lannsing; 2 nephews, Gary (Kathy) Wells of Duck Lake and Robert (Linda) Wells of Aloha Oregon; 2 great-nephews, Chad (Delynn) Wells and their children, Madalyn and Kylee of St. Johns and Todd (Elisa) Wells of Lansing; and 1 great-niece, Ricci (David) Allen and their children, Mitchel, Mason, Ashley, David of Summerland, NV. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 15, at noon at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing with the Rev.Frank Weller, officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing.
The family will receive friends at the Chapel Sunday from 2-5 pm. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 3100 West Road, Bldg. B, Suite 110, East Lansing, MI. 48823 in memory of Currin Skutt.
