| Birth: | Dec. 30, 1896 | | Death: | Aug. 4, 1963 |  Actor. Born George Duryea in Rochester, New York, he appeared in over 100 films and television series over the coarse of his career. He arrived in Hollywood in the 1920s and made his big screen debut in the lead role in "The Godless Girl" (1929). During the 1930s and 1940s, he had big success appearing in western films for RKO and Republic Studios. His film credits include "Come on Danger!" (1932), "Romance of the Rockies" (1937), "The Painted Trail" (1938), "Western Mail" (1942) and "Thunder Mountain" (1947). For television, he appeared on the series "Sky King", "Hopalong Cassidy", "Tales of the Texas Rangers" and "Fury". After his last film "Plan 9 from Outer Space" (1959), he retired from acting to focus on real estate and the insurance business. He died of cancer at age 66 in Woodland Hills, California.
