Notes by Diana R. Morse June 2005

June 20, 2005 I talked to a very kind gentleman, Terrill Weaver, caretaker of the records for Fairmount Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, Missouri today. He has personally walked the cemetery collecting data on burials within this cemetery and also researched courthouse records as best he could. There is no marker for Roscoe Murrie though he is buried at this cemetery. There is no records what section he is in, but Terrill feels he would not be in the indigent section as this was usually noted somewhere. There are approximately 3000 unmarked graves with no records as to where and or who might be in them. He did say there were some Alexander's buried there (Joe Alexander was Roscoe's brother in law), but these plots are full and people buried in them accounted for.

Lorberg Funeral Home, who handled the funeral/burial, lost their records from prior to 1951 in a fire so are no burial records available. This per a conversation with the receptionist at Lorberg a week or so prior to June 20, 2005.

I do have a copy of Roscoe Murrie's death certificate from the Missouri Archives.
